Dev blog: LIMA 2.0

LIMA can now take on entire tasks, not just single actions — give it a task and it works through the whole thing, step by step, until the job is done. You stay in charge: LIMA says what it's about to do and waits for your approval before it acts. This update also brings file reading and editing, screenshots, a new Conversations menu, a quicker start, free usage that refreshes monthly, and fixes for speech, translations, and the AI model list.

New Features

  • LIMA can now take on whole tasks — ask once and it plans the work, acts step by step, and checks each result as it goes.
  • If a step fails, LIMA tries a different way or explains the problem, and carries on.
  • LIMA now asks for your approval before it clicks, types, or opens anything — describing your screen, searching, and reading files still happen without asking.
  • Approve with Ctrl+Alt+Y or deny with Ctrl+Alt+N; denying lets you tell LIMA what to do instead.
  • LIMA can now read and search your files, and create or edit them with your approval.
  • LIMA can now take screenshots — saved to your Desktop and copied, ready to paste.

Changes

  • Your free usage now refreshes every month, and LIMA tells you the reset date.
  • A new "Maximum agent steps" setting (default 80) controls how many steps LIMA may take to finish one request.
  • New Conversation and Conversation History moved into their own Conversations menu.
  • LIMA now tells you it's loading as soon as it starts.
  • Each part of a reply — words, actions, and results — now gets its own line in the conversation.

Bug Fix

  • Fixed actions failing silently in apps that run as administrator — LIMA now explains how to fix it.
  • Fixed words sometimes running together at the end of spoken replies.
  • Fixed the transcript missing the note LIMA speaks when a reply is cut short.
  • Fixed the Upgrade button taking paid users to the checkout instead of their billing page.
  • Fixed the AI model list skipping models your plan doesn't include — they're now read out with the plan they need.
  • Fixed tooltips and labels staying in the old language after a language switch.
  • Fixed Vietnamese and Tagalog translation issues, including action results read out in English, and corrected Vietnamese wording.
